Join us on Friday, October 16th, as Bronxville’s history comes to life! On this eerie autumn eve, 225 Children from 1st through 7th grade and their chaperones will have the opportunity to encounter five important “ghosts” from Bronxville’s history, many of them in their original dwelling. Five homes within easy walking distance on and around the Hilltop neighborhood have been secured for the appearance of the spectral figures. Children and their adult chaperones will move along a pre-determined route, guided by a map and the light of a (battery-powered) candle.   At each home, an actor dressed in period garb will share the story of his or her life in Bronxville during the late 19th Century (but with a very spooky bent). Sets laden with authentic antique props, and unique backdrops painted by artist Marc Pollack will contribute to a chillingly realistic night. To keep excited children occupied while waiting to meet the apparitions, traditional Halloween games will be interspersed between the homes.

Following on a very successful partnership with Sarah Lawrence College for the inaugural Ghosts of Bronxville in 2013, five graduate students from the Sarah Lawrence graduate theatre department will again portray the “ghosts” stationed at each home. In addition, several talented Bronxville High School drama enthusiasts will play the “wandering ghosts” who will be encountered outside along the route.

The Ghosts of Bronxville was originated by the BHC Young Families Committee in 2013 to introduce the children of the village to the incredible history that surrounds them everyday.  Event co-chairs, Michelle McBride, Stafford Meyer and Erin Saluti, along with committee members Maree Cutaia, Christine Fitzgibbons, Tina Adams Halaby, Cece Heraty, Emily Liggitt, Jennifer Russo, Laura van Tienhoven, and Lyndal Vermette  will facilitate this year’s production, making  Ghosts of Bronxville 2015 even more memorable than the first.

Tickets are $40.00 per child (grades 1-7).*  Limit is four tickets per family.  Chaperones are required for every 2 children and are free of charge.  Please act quickly to avoid disappointment – tickets sold out within a week in 2013!

In case of serious weather conditions, an indoor program will be offered at the Reformed Church. Tickets and a check-in package will be available on the Village Hall lawn the day of the event.  Instructions and further event information will be sent via email.

*This is a members only event. A 15-month family membership (good through 12/16) is available for $65.00 at point of purchase. If you are unsure if your membership is current or lapsed, please email Nancy Blum at for confirmation.
